Joe Gannon
Joe Gannon had an excellent night tonight in leading Southern Maryland over Bridgeport: 8 IP, 9 H, 3 BB, 6 K. (Box score not yet available.) He is
now 4-1 and has ably replaced John Halama, who was signed by Cleveland to play for AAA Buffalo.

Gannon won his last start before the Atlantic League All-Star break; he pitched seven solid innings to win 3-2. (Both runs were unearned. Shea
Hillenbrand was hit by a pitch to start the second inning, then one out later Sandy Aracena reached on an error. The two runs scored on a wild pitch,
passed ball, and another wild pitch.) It was Former Red Sox day in Southern Maryland
as Hillenbrand started at third and Frank Castillo was the starting pitcher for York, and Curtis Pride was the starting DH for Southern Maryland.
Gannon is now 6-1 with a 2.96 ERA in 67 IP (9 starts, one relief appearance). he seems to have good control this year: 34 BB and 54 Ks so far.

Gannon had one of his best games of the season last night against York: he threw a recovered from an
early run (double, single, double-play grounder) to throw a complete-game seven-hitter and lead his team to a 2-1 victory.
His line: 9 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 8 K, 1 HB. His ERA fell to 3.87 and he is now 8-4
on the year.

Opening Day Starter
Joe Gannon will start tonight at 7:05 ET for the Southern Maryland Blue
Crabs. Last year, he was arguably the best pitcher in the league after joining the team about a month into the season (and pulling a double
shift bartending the night before his debut).
