Best Pitches You Have in Your Arsenall
i have been taut 9 but i use like 3 or 5
or the best ones that are working for me mainly i like to stick with my three main pithces like the fastball, curve, and Forkball and then i add Two
of the other pitches i know and see if they are working.
my Best ones are
1. Fastball- 4 Seam(tails) 3 Seam(Quick and mostly used) and 2 Seam(comes back)
2. Curve 12-6 and 2-8 a slower one also held with one finger that one goes from 1-7
3. Forkball or Splitter
my casuals are just for back up the pitches i mentioned above are the ones i can control for sure. the next ones are in the Arsenal incase they are
needed.
Knuckleball (thrown with middle and ring finger)
Slider ( just as back up)
Sinker
Knuckle Curve ( i do have some control but i dont like this pitch)
Change up ( dont like at all it floats up but recently at practice some guy gave me a good advise of "Steer it:" by when at release kind
of give the catcher a thumbs down flick to the wrist thats what gives it screwball action i guess)

I don't have very many pitches, but enough to get by I guess:
4 Seam Fastball (Rises)
2 Seamer (Tails away from righties)
Curveball (In my opinion a really good 10-4. Most people I've faced can't touch it)
Circle Changeup (I usually don't have control of this, so I use it as a waste pitch or something I can get the batters to chase after.)
Knuckle (If this is working, I use it. ALOT. But I'm still prefecting it. I expirement with it early in an outing to see if I've got it or
not. And this is working I can dispose of my struglling circle change, so I would have a solid 3 pitch arsenal instead of a solid 2 and 1 thats just
eww, lol.)

1. 4 Seam (straight pitch, use it sometimes at the beginning of a count, or when i'm in trouble)
2. 2 seamer (moves away from righties)
3. Curve (12-6 and 2-8)
4. Circle Change (nice pitch to learn, keeps batters off balance)
5. Splitter (i use this as my strike out pitch, along with my curve)
RedLegs1989, u should really take the time and learn the circle change, it's an awesome pitch to have.

I know this is a really dumb question but how exactly do you throw a circle change?

1) 4 Seam FB (tails in to righties)
2) Curve (2-8 more like a slurve)
3) Knuckle Curve ( 12-6 drop)

Pitches
1. My best pitch: 2 Seam Fastball (Sharp break into Lefties hands)
2. K- Curve (major 12-6 movement, un-touchable)
3. 4 Seam (generally overpowering for my league/age)
Edit: I circle change's grip , well at least how i hold it, is held by grabbin the ball with your middle, ring and pinky fingers with your
pointer and thumb connecting to make a circle on the side of the ball. You want to choke the ball, in otherwords jam it into your palm and squeeze the
ball hard with your fingers. Hope that helps
Could anyone tell me how to grip a 3 seamer?

Look in the "Trademark pitches" thread for details on the 3-seamer.

my best pitches are:
1) fastball- 4 seam (straight but fast), cutter (moves in on lefties), 2 seam(like a backdoor fastball)
2)circle change(sometimes as a waste pitch)
3)12-6 curve, and 2-8 curve(my strike out pitch)
4)Splitter (my second strike out pitch)

i throw about everything but a knuckler....
fastball (4 seam, 2 seam, cut, sink, screw...call them what you want I call them fastballs...however i never really throw a 4 seam because it
doesn't move and it usually gets destroyed, only time i throw it is when I'm behind in the count and still trying to paint the outside
corner...or when i come up and in, but i'm not trying to hit them, just a brush off pitch)
splitter
3 finger changeup
curveball (i throw a 12-6 and a sweeping curve)
knucklecurve (i learned this literally yesterday, but next game I will be throwing it)
slider (strikeout pitch...looks like a fastball, then darts out low and away to righteys in the dirt, i usually atleast get a check swing if nothing
more)
I need to get my curves working again, they're really not doing anything....first my splitter died, then when i got my splitter working again my
curveballs died

Four seamer, two seamer, circle change, and then my specialty:
One finger curveball - I lift my index finger off the normal curve grip and I get massive drop. I usually throw this one really slow to get a huge
break and then i mix in my knuckle-curve for a faster sharper breaking ball. A huge looping slurve I also use as I aim the ball at the batters head
to get them to duck or back away as the ball breaks down and away right into the strike zone.

I use my knuckleballs. I have 3 grips,
1. The Niekro Bros. Grip. Generally breaks in for righties, away for lefties for me.
2. The Waikefield Grip. Unpredictable
3. The Wilhelm Grip. Behaves similar to Niekro grip, but is about 8 mph faster.
I only throw knuckleballs because that was good enough for me to pitch 3 shutouts last year.
1. Hoyt Wilhelm
2. Phil Niekro
3. Eddie Cicotte
4. Joe Niekro
5. Wilbur Wood

2. palmball (change up)
3. Curveball
4. Slider
5. Splitter
I use my fastball and palmball a lot, but my strikeout pitch is the curve on lefties and slider on righties. i usually start off with a palmball then
work the batter from there depending on the count

Fastball - hitting 70mph after a little over a year of working it up from 38mph. I'm VERY proud. This is my main pitch. I can hit anywhere in
the zone with it. My biggest asset as a pitcher is that I hit my targets well. It does'nt do very much tailing or anything, I just throw it
where I need it to go
Sinker - I can throw my sinker, just as hard as my fastball (perhaps because a sinker is a form of the fastball?), and not lose any of my movement.
Apperantly, everyone that watchs my sinker notices one MAJOR thing that sticks out to them...my sinker cuts in on right handed batters, and moves away
from leftys. Now I'm not sure if a sinker is supposed to do that, but is sure has proven really damn hard to hit!
Knuckle-Curve - The results I've gotten out of my KC -- which I throw at about 50 to 60 mph, have not been nearly what I feel they could be. I
know that not only can I increase my speed, but my break also. I use the KC as a spot pitch (so I don't over use it and hurt myself). However, I
still feel that I can get good strikes out of this pitch.
Change-up - This is almost as effective as my sinker on a good day. When I'm feeling my change-up, I could stick with it, and turn my sinker
into a strikeout pitch, or a leadoff pitch, and not worry to much about over working my fastball other than setting up my change-up, or tricking them
into getting ready for a change-up. My KC then can be used at just about any point in the count if I'm feeling my grip. My arm speed is really
almost the same as my fastball -- maybe at about upper 60s with my changeup. However, the ball comes out at about lower 60s speed, and like my sinker,
breaks a bit into right handed batters.
Now, my knuckleball cannot yet be thrown from the mound (even after a year...), and I've decided that its a waste of my time to try and get good
at EVERY pitch...I rather have four strong pitchs, while I keep improving my speed, break, location (which is very good right now), and thinking on
the mound. I've stopped throwing splitter, curves, sliders, and most breaking pitchs (minus KC). I do however work on my knucker with every
chance I get.
Lets go Bulldogs!

Pitches
1. Slow Knuckler- my most reliable pitch, deadly in strong winds
2. Fast Knuckler- my best pitch with wicked movement, but not always reliable
3. Overhand Knuckle-curve- my best non-knuckleball. Has 12-6 break and can usually throw it for strikes.
4. Two-seam Fastball- has no movement, but is only grip I can throw strikes with. Least reliable command of any of my pitches. I try to avoid throwing
it whenever I can.

pitches
pitches i throw:
-4 seam which rises
-2 seam which will tail
-straight changeup which drops
-a 10 4 curveball which wen it is on is awsum
-a knuckleball which i swear is the nastiest pitch i can throw
-and im workin on a splitter
i usually will throw the 4 seamer, curveball, and knuckleball. my 2 seamer is good but sumtimes it tails 2 much and is hard to locate. im still kinda
developing my changeup but so far its goin good. but once i get my changeup workin good it will b 1 of my main pitches

Best Pitches:
-4 Seam Fastball - Straight, (70-75 consistantly)
-2 Seam Fastball - Movement in on righties
-Curveball - Huge 2-8 movement, starts at batters and and just propells away.
-Change Up - Goes straight. Sometimes though when I flick my wrist really hard at realease I can get this nasty drop as it approches the plate.

1. Palmball
2. Circle-change
3. 4-seam fastball
4. Screwball
5. Curve
I mix my changes a lot, I would say I throw 40% fastballs, 30% changes, 15% screwball, 15% curve
but when im throwing just knuckleballs...
1. knuckleball (3 different grips)
2. curve
3. 4-seam fastball
